Championing Adult Vaccinations — A View from the IFA

Our vision at the IFA is a world of healthy older people whose rights and choices are both protected and respected.  Fostering healthy ageing is one of our five priorities.
Preventive strategies are key to fostering health and well-being.  The IFA is proud to be working with experts across the world to develop universal messages.  Dr Barratt, Secretary General of the IFA at the European Public Health Conference spoke about the importance of civil society taking a leadership role at the European Public Health Conference in 2015.
Congratulations to Dr Sandra Timmerman for the GSA Fellowship Award

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) named Dr. Sandra Timmermann a GSA Fellow at its Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, on November 20, 2015. She joins Dr. Cynthia Stuen who was previously named a GSA Fellow.
The IFA is proud to have both of these remarkable individuals as our United Nations representatives in New York.
The status of Fellow — the highest class of membership within the Society — is an acknowledgement of outstanding and continuing work in gerontology.  This recognition acknowledges outstanding professionals representing a broad scope of activity, including research, teaching, administration, public service, practice, and notable participation within the organization.
GSA is the nation’s oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of ageing. The principal mission of the Society — and its 5,500+ members — is to advance the study of ageing and disseminate information among scientists, decision makers, and the general public.

See Australia at the IFA Conference in June 2016
Only 3 months left for early-bird registration for the IFA 13th Global Conference on Ageing.
Take advantage of being in Australia and do not miss your chance to see and if you are up to it, eat the Green Tree Ants, also known as Weaver Ants.  These ants are a traditional source of bushfood and are only found in the tropical coastal areas of Australia.
The Green Tree Ant’s abdomen is high in vitamin C and protein and tastes a little like lime.  As well as being a good source of nutrition and flavour, these ants also provide a traditional remedy for coughs, colds and fevers.
The Green Tree Ant is one of many fascinating opportunities for adventure that Australia has to offer.  Read more about exciting tours on the IFA Conference website.
