Request for Proposal — Basic Literacy for Older Persons
In many developing and least developed countries, literacy opportunities for older persons are scarce. In some instances, older persons themselves might be reluctant to take on such educational opportunities.
The NGO Committee on Ageing, New York, funded by the Virginia Hazzard Fund is providing financial support of $3000 USD for a project focused on literacy of older persons. This project aims to support the SDG target «4.6…achieve literacy and numeracy,» for older persons in every circumstance to be literate and to participate fully in society.
Selection is based on a short 2 page proposal sent to Mr. Jack Kupferman (jkupferman@aol.com) by 31 December 2015. NGO’s, schools, lifelong learning entities, academic institutions and faith-based institutions with experience in literacy are eligible to apply.

«It’s time that those who are committed to this field across all sectors to join together and ensure that older adults of today — and those that come after us — have the benefits of adult vaccination.» — Dr. Barratt, Secretary General, IFA
Increased longevity is one of the greatest achievements of the modern era. Helping people live long healthy lives is the next challenge of our times with adult vaccination playing an increasingly important role.
Vaccination is an important preventative tool to minimize instances that an older adult will have an infectious disease. With increasing age comes decreasing immunity.
